Text Box: I am enthusiastic about serving as Alpha Sigma’s new Vice President for the autumn of 2002. First, let me tell you a little about me. I am a senior Industrial Management major. I became a member of Alpha Sigma in the spring of 2001. Last semester I served as the group’s Historian, taking pictures of our events and updating the scrapbook. It was definitely a fun office to have. However, I am eager to take on my new responsibilities. It is an especially exciting time to be here because of last spring’s amendment to the constitution, which placed the responsibility for coordinating the group’s service to the PEW Fine Arts Center under the office of Vice President. In the past it has been less official, and we want to make ourselves known to the campus as a Housing Group that is willing and ready to serve the Text Box: campus. Current planning sessions are going well with Dr. Arnold, who heads up the Fine Arts program. As last year’s GCC Wolverine Marching Band President, I have built a good working relationship with Dr. Arnold that will help get this new interaction between him and the group off to a great start. I am proud of the current members and their willingness to take on this new challenge and give Alpha Sigma a more recognizable face on the campus. Among other service opportunities, we will now be ushering for Concert Band and Jazz Band performances. This will be a year of change for the group with our new responsibilities and so many quality new members, but it will only strengthen us for the future.

Text Box: This upcoming year will be a good one for Alpha Sigma sports, but first a recap on how we did last year. In the fall our ultimate frisbee team made it to the playoffs, but unfortunately lost in the first round. With football, we had a tough time but we did manage to win one game. Volleyball was the last of the fall IM sports and Alpha Sigma fielded two teams. Both of the teams met with limited success but had a good time playing. In the spring Alpha Sigma basketball was at its best and captured a C league championship. There were two spring bowling teams and they both fared well. For the first time ever, there was a spring ultimate frisbee league in which we lost in the semi-final round of the playoffs. We did field a softball team but had to forfeit most of the games due to classes and other time con Text Box: flicts.
This fall we will be fielding a football team, two frisbee teams, and two volleyball teams. We're expecting to build on our spring frisbee success and possibly bring back a frisbee championship. We're expecting mild success in football and volleyball. In the spring we'll field two basketball teams, a couple of bowling teams, a frisbee team, and a softball team. In basketball one of the teams will be moving up to B league but we're confident we'll still be successful at this higher level and hopefully bring back another championship. All in all, we're looking forward to a fun successful year of IM sports for Alpha Sigma.
